Plastic Free Certification guest at Conero Riviera

“Hotels, restaurants, beach resorts towards sustainability” is the name of the event organized by the association Riviera del Conero in collaboration with Confcommercio Marche Centrali and held in Ancona on 27 and 28 January 2020.

With great pleasure and pride, Plastic Free certification accepted the invitation to participate in the event to share our project and our activities with all the representatives of seaside resorts tourism.

More specifically, the event analysed two key aspects of tourism and sustainability: the current legislation and marketing solutions best suited to accommodation facilities.

As we know, the European directive about single-use plastic from fossil sources prohibits the use of plates, cutlery, straws, balloon poles and cotton swabs in plastic by 2021.

In addition, the Member States of the European Union have set certain targets for the collection of plastic waste generated:

• target collection of plastic bottles should be 90% by 2029; 
• plastic bottles must have a recycled content of at least 25% by 2025 and at least 30% by 2030.

During “Hotels, restaurants, beach resorts towards sustainability” attention was paid to the regional law Marche on the implementation of the European directive and the objectives set by the Member States.

In 2019 Marche closed a year with a great increase of tourism and received the recognition of Lonely Planet guide as best destination 2020.

The attention to the new profiles of more conscious and eco-sensitive guests and the development of new concepts based on the eco-sustainability have been the priorities of the meeting. 

Plastic Free certification shared with all those present our reality and our commitment to Mother Earth first, but also to our fellow for eco-sustainability of the entire life cycle.
